The Mission of Caregiver Companion

How We Foster Dignity and Compassion For the Aging

Caregiver Companion is a non-profit organization in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, that provides non-medical supplemental volunteer support for elderly and disabled individuals who desire to remain in their homes, as well as their caregivers. We refer to all those we serve as our “neighbors” emphasizing God’s love and the community. Our goal as an agency is to help relieve the pressure that often comes with being a caregiver through the help of loving and caring volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering or in need of our services, please contact us.

Mission Statement

Caregiver Companion is a network of interfaith volunteers committed to improving the quality of life in the homes of our elderly and disabled neighbors, as well as their caregivers.

A Legacy of Compassion

Our Story

Our beloved founder and friend, Sr. Veronica Baumgartner, with the support of her community of the Congregation of St. Joseph, founded Caregiver Companion in Lafayette, Indiana in 1995. Her vision of showing God’s compassion and love to caregivers, the aged and disabled, or as she referred to them the “dear neighbor” was realized in this local outreach ministry. In 2015, Sister Veronica passed away, but her vision to reach families in need throughout Tippecanoe County continues. She longed to see a world where there is dignity for the aging, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of servitude, compassion, and care for the dear neighbors of our community.

Caregiver now operates as its own 501(C)3, delivering the same values to +170 families in Tippecanoe County.

Vision Statement

Our vision is a world where there’s dignity for the aging, where people come together to share life’s burdens. We do this by intentionally connecting community volunteers with caregivers and neighbors. This provides much needed support to enable them to age safely, and with honor.
