A Note About Our Neighbors

"Neighbors" is the term we us for the ill, frail, or elderly whom we serve. The term originated with Sister Veronica, our founder. She used it to reflect her love for everyone she served, and we continue the tradition today.

Testimonials

“[The Caregiver Companions] are very friendly and helpful with my mother. The volunteers keep her busy by talking to her, which is a big help as they talk about different things than we do. They help us a lot so that we can make her life fuller, and with their help, we get to keep our mother at home with us. She looks forward to the volunteers with their friendly smile and friendship.”

“I can always count on [Caregiver Companion] and I’m certainly grateful for it too.”

“[The Caregiver Companions] have saved my mental health by giving me breaks to get out of the house. The companions have given my mom “company” (since she has no one – friends or relatives in this area). It is very possible that without the help of Caregiver Companion, I would not be able to keep my mom at home.”

“[Caregiver Companion is] very beneficial for the people who need help. They fill the gap that Social Services can’t take care of.”

“Caregiver Companion has made my daily challenges a lot easier. Every person I’ve met is very helpful and wants to help where they can. I can’t imagine life without their support.”

”Caregiver Companion has wonderful people who take time out of their busy lives to do for others. They go above and beyond what I have asked. They don’t do it because they have to, but because they want to. They make people feel like they are still worth something. We are not forgotten but still a part of this world.”

CURRENT NEEDS:  Drivers are needed; if you like to drive please give us a call at 423-1879.  Springtime always finds us saying goodbye to our Purdue students who primarily help us with housework.  This leaves us extremely shorthanded during the summer months for our neighbors who need someone to run the sweeper or mop the kitchen floor.  Lawn Mowing and yardwork are another summertime need.  Please consider helping someone in this capacity, if you are able.  This is a great project for students and families on summer break who want or need some service learning hours.
